Pend Oreille Valley Networks The locally owned

company that brought internet to Pend Oreille County early in 1996

continues to  bring cutting edge technology to the rural residents of

our community with  its investment in a wireless  network at Diamond

Lake. The first 2 of 3 broadcast points became operational on October

3rd, followed by 4 days of testing to assure quality of service.

During the following week several pre-paid clients were brought on

line to further test system capabilities, and since then over 35

residents of the Diamond Lake area have been connected.

Although the network is wireless it connects locally to PUD’s fiber

optic transmission cable on South Shore road, providing end users with

an affordable, reliable, high speed internet access, capable of

supporting internet telephone service.

Pricing for the service is based on speed requested and begins at

$30 monthly. There is a $250 installation fee, but POVN will replace

the equipment at no charge should it ever fail.

POVN has been providing wireless internet in downtown Newport for 6

years  and will soon be expanding service north down the river to Ione.

For information and scheduling for installation call POVN at

447-3067, or stop by the office at 108 S. Washington Avenue in

Newport.
