FIREWORKS DISPLAY
PLANNED
By Jeff Taylor
The Diamond Lake
Improvement Association will be hosting a Fireworks show on the 4th of
July. The show is set to start at
approximately 10:00 pm and will be displayed from the water in an area near the
public access, for visibility of the majority of the lake.
At last year’s annual meeting it was recommended that we
have an electrically fired show for safety purposes, primarily due to injury in
previous years and new state legislation.
There was a motion to increase the amount spent on the show from
$4000.00 to $5000.00 to cover the cost of the electrical firing and a little
better show. That motion passed.
The fireworks proposal has been approved, insurance
acquired, application signed and an emergency plan has been put into place. On
the morning of the 4th, EFI (Entertainment Fireworks, Inc.) will be loading the
dock with the fireworks in the Boy Scout Bay just east of the main scout dock.
We ask that you please keep a
considerable distance from the loading dock and try to avoid throwing large
boat wakes in the area. In past years,EFI has had
issues with large waves splashing onto the dock and fireworks.
The Pend Oreille County Marine
Patrol will be patrolling the lake before and during the show.
At 9:00 p.m. the dock will be pulled out, placed, anchored
and prepared for the show. Please stay
300 feet from the fireworks dock at all times.
Donations are greatly appreciated for this event!
Have a wonderful, safe 4th of July and enjoy the show!
