BOARD MEMBER- CONNIE MILLER
My first memories of Diamond Lake were the many visits my family made to enjoy the lake at the public beaches or when we rented a cabin. I also have wonderful memories of attending a few lake stags and calling the old barn/cabin my home for a week along with about 30 others girls. After graduating from Rogers High School, I earned my teaching degree from the University of Idaho. Kurt and I were married during our college years and after graduation, the Marine Corp was telling us where we would live for the next 3 years.
In 1975 we returned to Spokane and bought our first lake cabin on Diamond Lake. We were able to live in Spokane area for the next 10 years. Job opportunities took us away to California and Woodville, WA for the next 15 years. I spent most of that time enjoying being a stay-at-home mom and substitute teacher. We always managed to make our way back to Diamond Lake even if it was only for a few weeks in the summer.
In 1997, we bought the Turnbull’s home across the street from our cabin. Within in a few years we able to tear down the existing home and build our retirement home. In June of 2000, we became full time residents. For the past 3 years I have been working as an Administrative Assistant for Tomlinson Black Waterfront Realty.
Just like everyone else that has opportunity to live on the lake; we cherish this time and never get tired of watching the ever-changing view. Our three daughters, their husbands and our 4 grandchildren feel that Diamond Lake is a very special place and even though they do not live in the area, they make sure their vacation time is spent enjoy this wonderful lake.
I am looking forward to working on the board and doing all I can to preserve this precious lake.
